Nature's masterpiece

Corcovado National Park truly is nature's masterpiece and a must-visit destination for anyone coming to Costa Rica who is seeking an authentic wilderness experience. Corcovado National Park is the most visited place of the area.

It is home to over 140 species of mammals, 120 species of reptiles, 6000 species of insects and over 400 kinds of birds. Besides, in this spectacular park, there are 500 species of trees and 150 species of orchids. That is why the National Geographic Magazine called it the most biologically intense place on Earth.

The Corcovado Day Tour experience

The tour departs by boat from Uvita beach at 7:00 AM. We will arrive at the San Pedrillo Ranger Station approximately 1.5 hours later. Before departure, we will provide a safety briefing and a review of the itinerary. You will also have access to a coffee station featuring coffee, tea, fruit, toast, and natural juice.

Arrival at Corcovado

Upon arrival, your guide will lead the group to the ranger station, where you can prepare for the hike. Facilities including toilets and showers are available on-site. The trails at San Pedrillo are flat and accessible; however, please note that the tropical forest is warm during the dry season (December to April) and rainy from May to November.

Hiking itinerary

First hike (1.5–2 hours): This hike follows one of the most extensive flat trails in the sector, crossing primary forest and coastal areas. You may observe various birds, monkeys, raccoons, coatis, sloths, insects, learning about the tropical rainforest and on a lucky day you might spot tapirs and impressive tropical flora.

Lunch: We will return to the station for an outdoor picnic style lunch to recharge.

Second hike (approx. 1 hour): This shorter trail features some uneven terrain. During the dry season (mid-December to April), we visit a small river where you can cool off. Please note that this second hike is subject to weather conditions, particularly during the rainy season.

Return journey

The boat departs for Uvita beach at 2:00 PM, with an expected arrival between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM. During transit, keep an eye out for whales, dolphins, turtles, and marine birds along the southern Pacific coast.

Important notes

Due to potential health risks, pregnant women and children under the age of six are advised not to take this tour.

The trails at Corcovado are flat and easy but it can be muddy in places during rainy months (May to November) and warm during the dry season (December to April), with roots to avoid, but it is the rainforest after all. You will get wet, you will get muddy, you will sweat but it is part of the adventure. Boating can be bumpy during windy days or very smooth on calm days.
